2010 Boston Northeast Convention
The Boston Northeast GAA held their convention on Sunday February 21, 2010
at the Irish Cultural Centre. There was a large group of people in
attendance maybe due to the fact that 3 main board officers, Chairman
Bernie Connaughton, Secretary Sharon O' Brien and Registrar Raymond
Brady were stepping down due to a new rule in the Official Guide. This
states that starting in 2010 no one can stay in the same position on a
divisional or county board level if you have been in that position for
more than 5 years. Everyone was waiting to hear who their new chairman
was going to be for the year!
Well it started off with all of the board officers annual reports,
thanking everyone for their support and hard work over the years.We had a good year ranging from our own championship, Artane Band visiting and North American Finals, we have many people to thank for making us a very strong division.
The Election of officers for 2010 saw John Farrell from the Aidan
McAnespies club take chairman of the board, John stated in his opening
speech that he had big shoes to fill and that he would be honored to
accept the role of Chairman for 2010. John wished everyone well for
2010 and asked the clubs to be patient with him as it is his first
year, as is for many on the new board.
