Summerhill College
We wish Summerhill College the very best in the Connaught Senior 'A' Final against St. Gerard's Castlebar in Charlestown on Saturday next at 2.30pm. It is 25 years since they last won the 'A' Final and the team included many Club Members such as Tommy Breheny, John Clifford, Declan Conlon, Pauric Oates, Ciaran Ryan and Martin Keaney. We also wish St. Attracta's well in the 'B' Final at the same venue. Well done to the Summerhill College 2nd year team who have qualified for the semi final of the 'A' Championship after beating St. Muredach's, Ballina on a scoreline of 4-12 to 1-3. Well done to panel members Cian Breheny (captain) 1-6, Dylan Corcoran 0-2, Jake Dykes 0-3, Aaron McGoldrick, Stephen Henry, Ryan McManus, Gerard O'Kelly Lynch, Peter Kelly, Liam Henry and Rory Molloy. The Semi-Final is on Tuesday 16th march v Headford.Best of luck. Good luck to Summerhill College in the first years 'A' final due to be played shortly. Many of our successful U-12 and U-14 Feile teams are part of the college panel.

Minor
We lost narrowly to Eastern Harps at home on Sunday morning last in the Division 1 League on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-12. We saw fine scores from S. Cawley 1-4, P. Devins 0-6, G. Keaney and P. Farrell 0-1 each. A fine first half display by the home side was undone by a lethargic finish to the match. Niall McManus, Conor Kent, Conor Mahon and Gary Keenan tried hard on the day.
We have a back match against Tubbercurry on March 31st and the second half of the league commences on 22nd April away to Calry. There will be no training this weekend due to the Colleges final. Next training will be advised by Kevin Molloy.

Senior/Junior
The Senior side face St. Molaise Gaels on Saturday evening in Kent Park (Throw-in 5.00pm) in the last round of the Kiernan Cup. Training continues on Tuesday and Friday evenings with all Senior and Junior Panellists expected to attend.

County Scene
The Sligo Senior side were well beaten in Wexford in the 3rd round of the National Football League on Sunday afternoon last. Mark Breheny, Stephen Coen and Johnny Davey all started for Sligo. The Sligo U-21s face Galway in the Connacht Championship on Wednesday March 17th. Ronan Carter and Mark Herrity are part of the Squad and we wish them, the Team and Management the very best of luck. For all those natives of Mayo in St. Mary's, it is great to see Club Member, T.J. Kilgallon featuring in Mick Byrne's new book "Mayo: 60 Years of Thrills and Spills". The statistics for every player that pulled on the Mayo jersey in that period are outlined with T.J. having pulled on the jersey an incredible 118 times scoring a total of 7-60.

Seminar
Members of the Senior Squad attended a Motivational Seminar at the weekend in Westport. The lead speaker was Ciaran Duff, a member of the Dublin All Ireland Winning Team of 1983 and he recently was a member of Paul Caffrey's backroom team. David Caffrey made a special presentation to him on behalf of the club. Other awards were handed out throughout the Seminar weekend and our Club was proud to be included in some of the category winners. Paul Curley took first place in the Night Time Orienteering event, Neil Smyth was placed in the Salsa Dancing and Alan Collery was voted 'Nicest Beard' in the novelty events on Saturday evening. Tommy Carroll represented the Sligo County Board and gave an interesting speech on the 'challenges being faced by the GAA in the new millennium'. Overall it was an inspiring weekend to be part of.

Bereavements
We offer our condolences to Rosaleen O'Grady on the death of her mother Rose Foley, Treacy Avenue last week and to Margot Farrell on the death of her mother in Tipperary recently. Sympathies to the Lipsett and Fitzpatrick families on the death of Liam Lipsett Senior of Coolaney. Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Philip Ward, Fatima Avenue. Philip was a valued member of a Community Employment Group who constructed the terracing at Kent Park approximately 10 years ago.

Return
The return of Michael Bree, a member of the 2001 Senior Championship winning team, to take up work in Sligo this week is a great boost for the Community. His musical and footballing skills will surely be put to good use and its good to see locals returning to the area in these recessionary times.
