Price cuts worth considering, says Cody

Kilkenny boss Brian Cody has said it is "worth considering" cutting ticket prices after the huge attendance at last Sunday's NHL game at Semple Stadium, where admission was free for supporters.

After the game had fallen victim to the weather twice at the end of last month, 20,254 supporters travelled to Thurles for the game, which had less than half that figure expected for the original fixture on February 20 when admission for the stand was 15 euro.

"I suppose it reflects it was free and it was a terrific day as well, a real summer's day, a real hurling day as well," said Cody.

"Great atmosphere there. You look at those things. If it (cutting prices) is going to attract people coming to the game certainly it is worth considering."

Meanwhile, Cody has revealed that Michael Kavanagh will not be back for this Sunday's game against Cork at Pairc Ui Chaoimh after the defender led his club St Lachtain's to All-Ireland glory recently.

"Michael won't be playing next weekend. He hasn't rejoined the panel yet. He has had a long run with the club and hasn't come back to training yet," he confirmed.
