An experienced Ardglass side easily over came a young and experimental Teconnaught side in the semi final of the Lecale Tournament, organised by the SVP in aid of Clare lodge.
Teconnaught started brightly and landed the first score after both teams hit several wides, Ardglass then got in their stride as Michael Magee, Liam Mullan and Chris Deegan all added scores to give Ardglass a 0-6 to 0-1 led at half time. Ardglass dominated the midfield sector in this period with Magee fielding well and centre half back Aaron Beattie sweeping up all the breaking ball.
In the second half the introduction of three of last years successful minor team added further impetus to Ardglass' attacking play. Ardglass had a lively start to the second half extending their led with scores from Chris Taggert and Christian O'Connor, the game was over as a contest when Michael Magee side stepped both the Full back and goal keeper to tap the ball into the net.
Teconnaught where denied a goal after two fine saves from Mark Armstrong, In defence Sean Paul Halpin and Aaron Beattie where prominent while in attack Mullan and O'Connor's pace caused problems for the visiting defence. Overall a good work out for Ardglass and an opening win for the new management team of Edward Magee, Ryan Kelly and Brian Healy.
